Funny Computer Errors

July 31, 2008

Some of these are just too damn funny. My favorite it the one that reads: “An error occurred while creating an error report.”

Manually Installing Fonts

July 30, 2008

The Mac OS comes with an application called “Font Book,” which I find to be clunky and annoying to use. I prefer the old manual way of installing fonts, and it’s super easy.

Step 1: Find a font you like, via website like Urban Font or Dafont. Or via disc or any other way.

Step 1B: Unzip the font so it is in raw format.

Step 2: Open up the following directory: /Your HD/Users/YourUsername/Library/Fonts

Step 3: Simply drag the fonts into this directory.

You should now be able to use your new font in other applications like “Word” or “Photoshop” and etc.

5 Best Alternative File Managers (Windows)

July 30, 2008

I personally always though that Windows Explorer was always lacking something. Maybe it’s presentation in general was just bare. Looking over these 5 different alternatives I would like to try XYPlorer. It works with tabs, which I like a lot. Also it’s presentation seems pretty organized, with relevant information.

iPhone comes with images from warehouse

July 29, 2008

I wonder how this “accidentally” happened. And did the employee really not know how to delete the photos? Nevertheless if I were the customer who found these pictures on my iPhone I would definitely keep them.

Atheros chipset now supported by OpenSource

July 29, 2008

A big hurray for Linux users. I know my biggest issue while using Linux was getting my wireless card working. Most of the Laptops that I have used have been Broadcom chipset. In which I could only get working with Ndiswrapper. Which basically takes a working windows driver and wraps it up so it could be used via Linux. Before I was comfortable enough to dig into Linux and go the Ndiswrapper route I went out and bought a wireless PCMCIA card that I knew would be supported.

After being on Linux for a month or so I realized how easy it was to get my internal wireless card working. I felt like a sellout.  That was about $40 down the drain, because of laziness.

Kevin Smith and Batman

July 29, 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve picked up my last comic. I know I was really into Batman comics a few years ago while I was in High school. I was actually more into Graphic Novels, because I never stayed up to date with comic series. I would always get the first issue and not get around to the store to pick up issue 2 and 3. Then I wouldn’t be able to find them, but I could get a hold of issue 4. So collecting graphic novels was more of my thing.

Anyways I was browsing Digg, while in class. And I noticed the Kevin Smith is going to be co-writing a Batman mini-series with Walt Flanagan. The three issue mini-series will re-introduce Onomatopoeia, a villain Smith created on his Green Arrow run.

I myself like Kevin Smith’s movies, Mallrats and Clerks are my favorite. I never checked out his Green Arrow work, but a friend of mine said it was pretty good. I see this mini-series as an oportunity to jump back in to comics.
