Apple September 2008 Event

Everyone has been holding their breath lately, and some already had a feeling it would be geared towards a new iPod lineup. I personally don’t really care too much about the iPod, nor do I own one so this news wasn’t ground breaking for me. What was for me was the “Genius” feature in iTunes 8. Many of you have already came across the extremely popular web application Pandora.

iTunes 8 is said to have many functionalities as Pandora. I love Pandora and think it’s algorithims are amazing, so having an Apple based version should be even better. Now when it comes to the iPods, I must say my favorite revamped model is the nano. Although I must say holding the new iPod Touch is truly amazing. I find myself walking over while working and just picking it up and playing with it.

Intimacy

Bloc party just released their new album “Intimacy.” I think it’s very good, although it is very electronic compared to their last albums. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a Bloc Party fan!

Disney Says Your Mother!

After watching one of my all time favorite Disney movies “A Goofy Movie,” I suddenly realized something about Disney. I don’t know what it is but they must have something against mothers. They never cleared up the reason why Goofy is single and Max has no mother. Not only that but date back to “Bambi” when his mother got shot Tupac style. And then recently in Finding Nemo the mother and dozens of unborn children die in the first 5 minutes.

So my question is to Disney: Yo Momma?

The iBasket

Another cool little gadget that I came across lately. I personally like this one, but am afraid of what it might cost once released. It’s basically a laundry hamper/washer. And once it is done washing your load it will send you a text/twitter/email or whatever have you. A cool techy way to do your laundry I guess.

Eat at Burger King?

Recently an employee was filmed bathing in a Burger King kitchen sink, nude. Everyone watched on including the manager. Maybe the next time you go to BK you’ll think twice.

Scent Alarm Clock

Now this is a good idea, but I am not too sure that it would work for me. It comes with two modes. One in which releases a scent to help put you to sleep and the other helps you wake up. Now the only way I will wake up is if there is an extremely loud obnoxious noise.

Your options in office suites for Linux

After being on several different distributions of linux I’ve noticed several different office suites. Depending on the distribution of linux, or desktop environment, you’ll get a certain office suite. For instance if you were running a GNOME desktop environment system. You might get GNOME Office pre-installed. The same goes for KDE and KOffice. Now most of the time Open Office can come default with lots of distributions nowadays.

I’ve used KOffice, Open Office,  and GNOME Office. The other two; Siag Office and IBM Lotus Symphony I haven’t touched. The one thing that I like about Open Office is that you can pretty much do anything in it. And the great thing is it comes for all platforms. I have even used it on my Mac, you just have to make sure you have X11 installed. Instructions on how to do so can be found here.
